03/10/2009: White House Chef Receives Recognition for Culinary Excellence
03 OCTOBER 2009 WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a dinner reception hosted by Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa (right) at his residence in Washington, D.C., White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford (middle) received a Certificate of Recognition for Culinary Excellence from Mama Sita Foundation President Clara Lapus (left). Mrs. Comerford was also presented with an 18-carat gold medal during the occasion.
Mrs. Comerford is the first female and Filipino-American to be selected as White House Executive Chef. Initially appointed in 2005 by Mrs. Laura Bush, Comerford was reappointed by United States First Lady Michelle Obama early this year to continue serving under the current administration. END.
