Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington, D.C., where we provide information about the Philippines, the services that the Embassy extends, as well as relevant events held in the United States.
The Philippines stands again at a historic crossroads. His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III won an overwhelming victory in the 2010 elections with a platform of good governance. The Filipino people’s trust and expectations in the administration are high.
While much of my professional career was spent in the private sector, I had the honor of serving the late former President Corazon C. Aquino, from 1986 to 1993, as Administrator of the Social Security System and then as Governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines, among other past positions in government.
Philippine foreign policy will continue to be defined by the three pillars of promoting national security, enhancing economic diplomacy, and protecting the rights and welfare of Filipinos overseas. For the Philippines, the United States will remain to be a vital partner, given that we share such common values as democracy, rule of law, and open market economies. The U.S. has been supportive of the Philippine government’s efforts to achieve its development goals and I expect our excellent relationship to continue to flourish.
The Embassy and the other Philippine Foreign Service posts throughout the U.S. are fully committed to protecting the interests of overseas Filipino workers and responsive to their needs and welfare. The Filipino diaspora in the U.S. is a force to be harnessed and a crucial partner in building on Philippine-American ties.
I hope you will find this website a useful window to the Philippines, and to Philippine-U.S. relations.
